EXIGENCY OF ACTION

 1. Action

Action is the inevitable thing in life. It is the
cause for which life was created. Life was not
created for being idle. If you remain idle, you will
perish. It is the purpose for which life was created.

Knowledge explains the right way to perform your
actions. It is obligatory on your part to perform
action. But you should perform your duty of action,
without getting attached to it. You should do it with
a sense of renunciation. In the process of performing
the action, the by-products of the action do not
belong to you. The fruits do no belong to you. You
have a right and a duty to perform action. But the
fruits are to be shared with the world.

You should perform actions without having a desire for
fruits. Without being egocentric. The fruits of the
action do not follow, and do not expect them. If you
expect and you don't get, you are disappointed with
the world, which will cause mental and physical
imbalance to you, which you don't deserve, in the
natural process. If you have an attachment to the
fruits of the action, you develop a desire for them.
If you don't get, you feel for what you have not got.
But remember what you have not got means that it does
 not belong to you.

This has been well brought out by Lord Krishna in
 Bhagavad-Gita, thus:
 "Karmanyevadhikarasthe Ma Phaleshu Kadachan"

The above quote means thus: "Hey Arjun (Man)! Do your
duty, without expecting its fruits. You have the
right only to do your duty. You have no right to
expect or have the fruits of that duty/action and will
follow, which is the law of nature. Don't expect them.
 That is not your right."

 2. Value of Action

Action well accomplished is the joy of life. You
should derive joy from the actions you perform. Many
commit the mistake of deriving joy only when the
fruits of such action are achieved. And the fruits of
the same action are different in expectations of
different people. Two people may be doing the same job
or work, but they expect different results, which may
not be so. They are not competent to determine the
fruits of the action. If they do, they develop a
desire towards them, which will only result in
 disappointment and negative feelings.

Your motive in life should be to strive, to struggle
and to act, but not to succeed. This will give you
immense joy. This is work bereft of attachment. It
is pleasurable to perform actions without having a
 sense of attachment to them.

"ENJOY WHAT YOU DO and YOU WILL DO WHAT YOU ENJOY"

Work bereft of attachment is worship. Do not develop
a fear of doing. Take to work as you would to sport.
Enjoy your actions and work. If you have an
attachment for the fruits of action, you will not
enjoy while performance. This will deprive you of a
large share of happiness that would have otherwise
 accrued to you.

Realize your Self, and act. You are bound to reach
the state of Perfection, the state of
 Self-Actualization.
